Winners from Galway will proceed to regional and national finals with the aim of finding Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur

Breda Fox, head of enterprise at the Local Enterprise Office Galway says: “In Galway the competition to find Galway’s Best Young Entrepreneur will be run by the new Local Enterprise Office. Winners will be named in three categories – best new idea, best start-up, best new venture for established business – as well as an overall winner who will be Galway’s Best Young Entrepreneur.”

The competition is open to everyone under 30 with an idea or commercial venture for a start-up or existing business.

Mentoring, marketing and other supports will also be available to participating businesses at various stages of the competition. The competition will be judged under three distinct categories: Best new idea €10,000; Best start-up business €20,000; Best established business with new add-on €20,000.

The first stage will be a Galway competition leading to the naming of the Best Young Entrepreneur for Galway. This stage will include boot camps and mentoring programmes. This will be followed by regional finals and ultimately national finals with one business-person being crowned Ireland’s Best Young Entrepreneur before the end of the year.

Ms Fox added: “We have an excellent history of prize-winning Galway start ups including Element Software, Dia Nia Technologies, Solaris Tea and Pocket Anatomy. We have a strong history of supporting young and emerging business here in Galway and this further strengthens our approach and support for new and emerging entrepreneurs”.
