Everyone's favourite for the county football championship, Corofin, hit the ground running with a comprehensive 3-14 to 0-10 victory over Mountbellew-Moylough last weekend at Tuam Stadium.
Stephen Rochford's side took a while to get into their stride, but once Gary Sice and Kieran McGrath goaled five minutes before half time to put the current champions 2-4 to 0-4 in front, there was no way back for Val Daly's youthful side.
Corofin had impressive displays from centre-forward Micheal Lundy, Gary Sice, who hit 2-5 (3fs ), Michael Comer at corner back, Justin Burke and team captain Michael Farragher.
Mountbellew, who were without county players Gary Sweeney and Joss Moore, had some notable performances from young Michael Daly, who hit one wonder point, Barry McHugh (0-5, 4fs ), goalkeeper Damien Boyle and Joe Bergin.
If they can continue with that work rate and team play, they will fancy their chances against near neighbours Menlough in the next round.
