Sarsfields Hurling Club, one of the most successful in the county, is holding a Family Fun Day fundraiser to secure its own playing pitches.
Although founded nearly 50 years ago, the club which consists of the parishes of Bullaun, New Inn and Woodlawn, has been using the local community facilities.
Now it is looking to build its own pitches adjacent to the community pitch in New Inn.
The family fun day begins at 2pm in the New Inn Leisure Centre and will be preceded by the 'Hurling on the Road' tournament starting at 12 noon, where the top prize is the Jimmy Kelly Memorial Trophy, in addition to the best u-18 team and best ladies' team.
Sheep racing will be one of the highlights of the day where visitors can buy and name a sheep, while a full list of games, costing one or two euros, will entertain the children. They include The Cube, ball in the barrel, speedy spud picking, battle of the balls, penalty shootout, crossbar challenge, hook the duck, guess the weight of the lamb, hit the dead off Aggie, bicycle challenge, and fish the bottle.
Among the activities are bouncy castles, face-painting, a tug-of-war competition, and a barbecue.
