Leading musicians to perform at Threshold Midsummer Concert

Threshold, the national housing charity, will bring glitz and glamour to Galway next week when it holds its annual Midsummer Concert to raise funds.

The concert will feature live classical and traditional music performances, and will take place in the Aula Maxima, NUI Galway, on Tuesday June 10, at 8pm. A champagne reception will commence at 7.30pm, and attendees will also be treated to a light supper and drinks during the event.

A stellar line-up of classical and traditional musicians will be on hand to perform, including the award-winning Tribal Chamber Choir; genre-hopping multi-instrumentalist Vinnie Kilduff; The Corrib Quartet; poet, songwriter and dramatist, Pete Mullineux; and rising star Sani McNally, who – at only 13 years – has been wowing audiences with his piano performances.

Diarmaid O’Sullivan, manager of Threshold’s Galway services, said: “Galway has a strong reputation as Ireland’s arts and culture hub, and we’re hoping the Midsummer Concert will showcase this, with performances from both seasoned and up-and-coming classical and traditional musicians. This promises to be a great night out; a really enjoyable social occasion with top-class entertainment.

“Most importantly, this event is also a way for the people of Galway to support the vital work undertaken by Threshold every day. In 2013, thousands of people contacted Threshold for help with their housing problems. We work with some of the most vulnerable people in Galway who are at serious risk of losing their home. Every day Threshold helps prevent two families from becoming homeless.

“The Midsummer Concert is our most high-profile fundraising event in Galway each year, and we are hoping that the 2014 concert will be even more successful than previous years.”

Tickets for Threshold’s Midsummer Concert are €60, and are available by contacting Threshold in Galway on 091-563080, by emailing [email protected], or by calling to the Threshold offices at 3 Victoria Place, Merchants Road, Galway.
