St Patrick’s five–a-side soccer team is heading to the Aviva Stadium to contest the All-Ireland finals on May 28, having recently captured the Aviva Health National Primary School Connacht Cup.
In their first game St Pat’s defeated Our Lady’s of Mercy (Sligo ) 12-0, and followed up with a 9-2 win over Abbey Boys NS (Roscommon ). In the third and final game against St Pat’s NS Castlebar, a win or a draw would secure the Connacht title, but Castlebar held a 1-0 advantage going into the second half, However midway through, a brilliant Lewis Waweru strike flew into the top corner to level again, before Castlebar retook the lead after a goal-mouth scramble.
With only a minute remaining Colin Kelly was taken down in the box, and a well-taken penalty secured the Connacht title for St Pat's, Galway.
