WEST OF Ireland poet and NUI Galway graduate Martin Dyar, has been shortlisted for the prestigious Listowel Writers Week Pigott Poetry Prize.
Maiden Names, Martin’s debut collection, published by Galway publisher Arlen House, was shortlisted for the award by British Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy and critic John Boland. It is the only debut selected for the award. The prize is valued at €5,000.
From Swinford, Mayo, Martin has completed a year as writer-in-residence at the University of Iowa, and working as the Ambassador for Irish Literature nominated by Dublin UNESCO City of Literature and supported by the Dept of Arts, Culture Ireland and the Arts Council. He is currently writing his debut novel.
