Oranmore/Maree to honour its best with community awards

The Maree/Oranmore Juvenile Soccer Club is seeking nominations for the Oranmore/Maree Community Awards.

The awards will be presented to outstanding people and organisations from the communities of Oranmore and Maree who, through their commitment to participating in voluntary activities, have made a significant impact on the quality of life of their communities not only locally but also on a national and internationally basis.

This is the first major fundraising event for 2009 organised by this newly established club.

The awards will be presented at a gala awards dinner in the Oranmore Lodge Hotel in Friday January 30 2009. The club currently has a membership of in excess of 400 boys and girls in the age categories u-6 to u-14, which is projected to increase to more than 600 in the next three years.

Nominations are invited for individuals or organisations who are involved in voluntary activities which in the judgment of the nominator have contributed to the enrichment of the lives of people in the greater community in any of the following categories: Arts and culture, music, sport, literature, business activity, local environment, community, social support, communications, national/international, and other.

Nomination forms are available from the offices Oranmore Community Development Association, Main Street, Oranmore, or the current Christmas edition of ‘More News. The closing date for the receipt of nomination forms is Monday January 5 2009.
