Network Galway launches tenth annual Business Woman of the Year Awards

A number of candidates have entered this year’s 10th annual business woman of the year awards, organised by Network Galway.

Launched recently at the g Hotel, candidates will be interviewed in the following categories: Network Galway Business Woman of the Year (new business ); Network Galway Business Woman of the Year (self employed ); Network Galway Business Woman of the Year (employee ); and Outstanding Galway Business Woman of the Year.

The business woman of the year awards will go to individuals who, in the opinion of the judges have contributed to their profession and who have made an outstanding contribution to business within their category.

Speaking at the launch Kerstin Harrington, president of Network Galway, said the awards were about celebrating and recognising the amazing contribution that women had made and continue to make to business life in Galway city and county.

“Unlike other award ceremonies this one is for women judged by women and considering the high standard who attended the interview, it is promising to see that so many women are embarking in new business ventures in Galway.” The winners from the first three categories will be put forward for the Network Ireland national awards that take place in Kildare on Friday September 26.

The judging panel comprises Breda Fox, CEO of Galway County & City Enterprise Board; Adrienne Turley, manager AIB Bank, Newcastle, Galway; and Liz Cassidy, managing director of Irishtime Design.

This year’s annual awards will take place in the g Hotel on Friday May 23.

The evening will kick off at 7pm with a champagne reception followed by a four course dinner and dancing until late. The MC for the night is Gemma Ní Chionnaith of TG4 and the main guest of the evening is Vicky O’Toole, managing director of JJ O’Toole Packaging

Award sponsor for 2014 is the Galway City & County Enterprise Board.
