Galway Ladies senior football team are one step away from division one football when they play Westmeath in the division two decider on Saturday in Parnell Park at 2pm.
This is the third year the Galway Ladies have been in the final. Two year ago they were well beaten by near neighbours Mayo, while last year they were pipped at the post by Kerry.
Galway, who topped the pool games with an unbeaten record, will be favourites on Saturday, but manager Barry Downey says they cannot afford to take their opposition for granted.
Earlier in the season Galway ran out winners by 3-13 to 2-05, but Downey says finals are always different.
“ Division one football is an attractive prize for the winners and while we came through the league without any real test, we cannot afford to take Westmeath for granted,” he says.
Downey is hoping a big local support will help his Galway Ladies finally prevail.
