Mozart’s Mass in Galway Cathedral

NEW YORK soprano Marcy Richardson and English soprano Denise Leigh will perform Mozart’s ‘Great’ Mass in C minor in Galway Cathedral on Thursday May 15 at 8pm.

The singers will be accompanied by the Tribal Chamber Choir, directed by Mark Keane, and an orchestra, led by the great ConTempo String Quartet. Also performing will be tenor Eoin Hynes and bass Owen Gilhooly.

Mozart originally composed the Mass to showcase the voice of his new wife, Constanze, during a visit to his father in Salzburg. It is the longest of all his Masses with virtuoso arias for soprano that also dialogue with chorus, and also feature in trios and quartets.

Tickets are €15/10 and available from Opus II Music Shop, High Street (091 - 500300 ).
