Supermac's teams up with Salerno for annual SuperRun

The Salerno 5k SuperRun will take place on May 9 with students, family members, staff and friends of Salerno invited to walk, jog or run the 5k route in aid of a new sports hall for Salerno Secondary School.

Salerno School principal, Sr Gerarda Lawler, says the run is a fun event for all.

“We welcome the wider Salerno community to come along for a really good time on Friday May 9. Sport and exercise is an important part of student wellbeing and the new sports hall will enhance its role at Salerno. “We greatly appreciate the support we have been receiving from local businesses and especially appreciate the generosity of SuperRun’s main sponsor Pat McDonagh of Supermac’s.”

This is the second year of the event and one of many fundraising events of the school's ongoing sports hall fundraising campaign. A range of successful initiatives have been taking place recently, including the phenomenal Strictly for Salerno dance event, the weekly 50:50 draw, and an online art sale of works donated by supporters.

Supermac’s managing director Pat McDonagh says it is great to see all the students actively training to either run, jog or walk the 5k.

“The SuperRun is a wonderful fundraiser to help build Salerno’s sports hall, which of course will be a fantastic platform where the students can develop their sporting talents and confidence.”

Those wishing to take part can register on-line at www.salerno.ie/superrun or from 12 noon on the day at Salerno. The SuperRun starts at 1pm from Salerno gate and participants can walk, jog or run the 5k. For those who would like to make a donation, visit www.mycharity.ie/charity/salerno
