Gardaí have appealed for information after a yacht was mysteriously moved at Renville Pier in Oranmore last week. Both the yacht and the trailer it was stored on were damaged in the incident.
It is understood the large blue and white yacht, which was secured to a green four-wheel trailer at the pier, was moved without the owner’s consent on Monday December 29. While the boat was being moved the trailer lost one of its wheels, causing the rear of the vessel to come into contact with the ground. The boat was then dragged along the pier, which caused damage to the exposed rudder. The yacht and trailer were then placed in a storage building beside the pier which stores larger boats.
Gardaí believe a large vehicle was used to move the boat from its original position into the storage building. Anyone who witnessed this incident is asked to contact Garda Nicholas Delaney at Oranmore Garda Station, phone (091 ) 388030.
