Funding of €100,000 for Galway city and county’s 29 libraries is “not acceptable” or anywhere near enough to maintain “this vital service”.
This is the view of Fianna Fáil Galway City East candidate Alan Cheevers, who is calling on the Galway County Council to urgently review the book funding for Ballybane Library.
“The Ballybane Library is an important part of the community as is the only public library on east side of city,” he said. “Without sufficient funds, it will find it increasingly difficult to maintain the service.”
