City girl wins place in All-Ireland schools final

CLARE QUINN, a young classical singer from Renmore, has reached the finals of the All-Ireland Schools Talent Search national final.

Clare was successful in reaching the final through her performance of Ennio Morricone’s ‘Nella Fantasia’ from the Film The Mission. ‘Nella Fantasia’ has enjoyed a revival of popularity recently through the version recorded by Welsh mezzo soprano Katherine Jenkins, one of Clare’s favourite singers.

The final takes place in the Limerick Concert Hall on Saturday April 26 and will feature only 10 acts, from an initial 1,200 entries. Fourteen-year-old Clare will be representing the Dominican College, Taylor’s Hill, where she is a second year student. TV3 will be televising the finals.
