Norman Villa Gallery exhibition

ARAN ISLAND artist Seán Ó Flaithearta will host his new exhibition, Sioda Móna/Bog Silk, in the Norman Villa Gallery in Salthill.

A native of Inis Mór, where he still lives and works, Ó Flaithearta’s surroundings and the environment he inhabits are an important influence on his art. His work is concerned with regeneration, decay, degeneration, and how nature reclaims and transforms the human life cycle.

A graduate of NCAD, Dublin, he also studied at the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Visuels de La Cambre in Belgium, and at the Pennsylvania School of the Arts in the USA.

The exhibition, which is part of the Cúirt festival, will be opened this evening at 6pm by Dr Lillis Ó Laoire, head of the school of languages, NUI Galway. Sioda Móna/Bog Silk runs until Saturday April 26.
