WILD STORIES, outrageous incidents, music, and irreverent shenanigans will take place in the Róisín Dubh this Sunday, to bring the Cúirt festival to a high spirited close.
This is Far From Literature We Were Reared, which takes place at the Dominick Street venue at 8pm, featuring Galway writers, storytellers, raconteurs, and musicians, telling tales and singing songs, and hosted by Conor Montague.
John Donnellan will read Failure - A Love Story; Emma Comerford presents To Be An Irish Woman; Hotpress interviewer Olaf Tyaransen will read from his short story Don’t You Know Who I Am? recently produced as a short film directed by Paul Duane and starring Alabama 3’s Larry Love; Charlie Adley will read Billy’s Story from his CV of an Under-Achiever; while Aideen Henry will share How To Survive Your Teenagers.
Also reading is the Galway Advertiser’s arts editor Kernan Andrews, who will read from his story, Northern Uproar, about a young Protestant lad in 1970s Northern Ireland whose life is turned upside down by punk and the Sex Pistols.
Audiences can also look forward to Tuam broadcaster, theatre director, and writer, Kevin O’Dwyer, presenting Characters from Tuam Drama; Johnny Hannon’s A Political Parable; poet John Corless; Hugo Seale, Eamon Stack, Bogusia Wardein, Anthony O’Brien, The Abandoned Darlings, multi award-winning Belfast performer Paul McMahon; and Madame La’touche from the Court of Louis XIV.
The Galway Arts Centre’s Páraic Breathnach will launch Elementary Chaos, a new album from poet, songwriter, and performer, Seamus Ruttledge, with Willow Sea, and Michel Durham-Brandt.
