A night of Palestinian dance

YOUNG, VIBRANT, proud, and engaging, the Lajee Dabka Dancers, will bring the traditional dance styles of Palestine to Monroe’s Live next week.

The Lajee Dabka Dancers’ performance will be part of a show entitled Dabka & Trad - an evening of traditional music & dancing from Palestine and Ireland on Tuesday April 15 from 8pm.

The dancers, aged between 15 and 23, who all come from the Aida Refugee Camp, north of Bethlehem, will showcase their arts, culture, tradition, and identity, as well as talk about their difficult lives living in a refugee camp.

Also performing will be Róisín Elsafty; Treasa Ní Cheannabháin; Gearóid and Patrick Deveaney; Neansaí Ní Choistealbha; Anne and Davoc Rynne with Johnny Hehir; Fred Johnston; Lillis Ó Laoire; Proinsias Ó hIarnán; Soní Choilm Learaí; Róisín Cherif; and singer-songwriter Sharon Murphy. The MC will be Margaretta D’Arcy.

The Lajee dancers will arrive in Galway at 11am on Tuesday. Weather permitting they will perform in the streets in Galway during the day.
