A tenth candidate, and a third Independent has declared for Galway City West, with the campaign launch of Tommy Roddy this week.
A resident of Salthill for more than 30 years, Mr Roddy has entitled his campaign ‘Roddy for Recovery’, and has a strong interest in issues such as mental health, community activism, and helping people of various different social and cultural backgrounds integrate into the wider community.
“Through the various organisations I am involved with,” he said. “I have shown a commitment to people of all ages, abilities, races, the marginalised, minority groups and people from all socio-economic backgrounds. I believe in each person achieving their potential, gaining employment, and being involved in the wider community.”
Mr Roddy is a facilitator delivering mental health modules to transition year students and a facilitator for the ShOut! LGBT youth group. He is also the PRO of St Patrick’s Scout Group and of ALâ Community Theatre.
