Galwegians, having clinched promotion last week, sealed the division 2A title when overcoming Bective Rangers in Donnybrook.
With one round still to play, Galwegians overcame their opponents by 21-12 victory to record their 13th league win on the trot.
Cory Brown’s side is 13 points clear of Ballymena, who with two games remaining, are currently in second place. Galwegians’ final league game will be played against Rainey Old Boys in Crowley Park on April 12 when the club will be presented with division trophy.
Last weekend against a Bective outfit sitting in the mid-table safety zone,Galwegians grabbed their first try after 12 minutes. Centre Brian Murphy initiated the attack from a turnover before winger Jerome Harrimate, after evading two tackles, fed scrumhalf Caolin Blade who crossed under the posts. Outhalf Ross Shaughnessy converted for a 7-0 lead.
Bective played a fine brand of running rugby, but Galwegians struck a decisive blow after 30 minutes from a lineout maul which resulted in a penalty try, with Shaughnessy adding the extras.
Try number three came in the 53rd minute from a counterattack led by veteran John Cleary, and from a Wegian scrum No 8 Eoin Rooney claimed his first try of the league campaign, with Shaughnessy converting for a 21-0.
The hosts were finally rewarded when Dave Daly crossed near the posts for a converted try with eight minutes left, and winger Ferdia Kenny added a second to reduce the gap to 21-12.
