GALWAY BANDS Harrison & The Devil and The Followers Of Otis release new singles, at two separate gigs, in the Róisín Dubh.
Harrison & The Devil, whose sound draws on Nick Drake, Nick Cave, and Supergrass, and whose debut EP Cat Matters featured on Nialler9’s reader’s Top 5 Irish EPs list, release the double A-side single ‘Mary/Blue Blood’ on Citóg Records.
The launch takes place at Strange Brew tonight from 9pm with Majestic Bears, Oh Boland, and Rural Savage supporting. Admission is €5 and includes a CD copy of the single. The single is available from OMG/Zhivago, Wingnut Records @ Bell, Book & Candle, and Charlie Byrne’s Bookstore. It can be downloaded free from harrisonandthedevil.bandcamp.com
The Followers Of Otis launch their new single, ‘James B Miller’, at a gig in the Róisín tomorrow from 9pm.
The Followers... sound originally drew on a mix of blues, folk, Gospel, and Beatles influences, but the new single, which the band describe as “a ballad of murder, greed, and existentialism”, reveals a new sound influenced by the music of the ‘spaghetti westerns’ of the sixties and seventies
