COMBINING APPALACHIAN folk, sea shanties, arena rock choruses, vocal harmonies, and an indie sensibility, Wexford’s Cornerboy epitomise nu-folk.
Led by Michael D’arcy, the band released their debut EP Morning, Morning in 2012, and last year played Indiependence, Other Voices Derry, and the Westport, Knockanstockan, and Electric Picnic festivals. They also won the ‘best unsigned Irish band’ title at the Red Bull Bedroom Jam 2013.
Cornerboy play Monroe’s Backstage Bar tonight from 10pm. Admission is free for students with valid student ID or €5 otherwise.
