Evita – classic musical for Town Hall

EVITA, THE celebrated musical based on the life of Eva Perón, the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 to 1952, is being staged in the Town Hall Theatre.

Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s extraordinary multi-award winning musical will be staged in the Town Hall Theatre by the Galway Musical Society from Tuesday March 25 to Saturday 29 at 8pm nightly, with a matinee performance on Saturday 29 at 2.30pm

Directed by Brian and Seán Power, Evita will feature Ailbhe Hession and Shane Kelly as Evita Perón and Ché Guevara. The musical director is Shane Farrell; the chorus master is Paddy Daly; choreography is by Declan Gardiner; and set design is by Conn O’Ceallaigh.

Boasting the classic songs ‘Don’t Cry For Me Argentina’, ‘On This Night Of A Thousand Stars’, ‘Another Suitcase In Another Hall’, and ‘Oh What A Circus’, the life of Eva ‘Evita’ Perón is told with little dialogue as the plot revolves around the songs, which mix rock, pop, classical, and choral.

From the balustrades and flags to the foot-tapping tango dancing and designer finery draped in fur this is history as dramatic theatre.

Tickets are available from the Town Hall on 091 - 569777 or www.tht.ie
