Dum Dum Girls to play Róisín Dubh

THE BRILLIANT Los Angeles pop-punk/indie-rock band Dum Dum Girls play the Róisín Dubh on Friday May 9 as part of their European tour.

The band are on the crest of wave following the release in January of their third, and arguably best, album to date, Too True (Sub Pop ). The album revealed how band leader/vocalist Dee Dee Penny has grown into a stunning songwriter - her music has evolved from buzzy, lo-fi, punk into mature, sophisticated, indie-pop, with a strong emotional core, that still rocks hard.

One of the stand out tracks on the album, ‘Are You Okay?’ has now been turned into a short film by the acclaimed novelist Bret Easton Ellis.

The psychological thriller which stars Dee Dee Penny and Shiloh Fernandez (Evil Dead, Red Riding Hood ), was directed by Brewer (Alt J, Purity Ring, Passion Pit ), produced by Braxton Pope, and with additional music by Tamaryn and Drew MacDowall. The video also includes Charles Ray’s artwork Two Boys (2010 ). Check out the film on noisey.vice.com

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG Zhivago, Shop Street, and The Róisín Dubh.
