Finalists of Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh to be announced

As part of Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations, the mayoral representative for the City of Galway, Cllr Dónal Lyons will announce the finalists of Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh 2014 at midday today, March 13 at a press event on the ground floor in the Eyre Square Centre, Galway (beside Sails Café ).

Gaillimh le Gaeilge organises this annual award in association with the Galway Advertiser and with support from the Galway Chamber, to recognise, honour and celebrate all the great bilingual work done in Galway city.

A diverse and vibrant group of businesses that are proud to use the Irish language in their day to day operations, have put themselves forward for this year’s Gradam. This year’s nominees include 12 first time entrants and six organisations that have previously participated and they range in size from one-man businesses to well-known multi-nationals.

Gaillimh le Gaeilge are delighted to announce that the moltóirí of Gradam Sheosaimh Uí Ógartaigh this year are; Professor Ciarán Ó hÓgartaigh, Dean of UCD School of Business, Siubhán Nic Grianna, Údarás na Gaeltachta, John Coyle, Hygeia and Renvyle House Hotel, Ailish Rohan, Galway City Council and Róisín Nic Dhonnacha, EmployAbility Galway. They met recently to review and evaluate all of the nominees and to select the finalists. In the coming weeks, they will visit all of the finalists premises to view first hand and appraise all of their bilingual work.

It would not be possible to organise the Gradam without the support of our esteemed sponsors. The Irish Times was announced as one of the new media sponsors this year as well as local businesses Galway.com and the Solution Guys.
