Burke demands City Hall deal with derelict tennis courts

City Hall officials must start paying heed to the solutions Monalee Heights residents are putting forward on dealing with the local tennis courts which have lain derelict for the past 15 years.

This is the view of Fianna Fáil Galway City West candidate, and Monalee Heights Residents’ Association vice-chair, David Burke. “The people of Monalee Heights and Monalee Manor are exhausted by the inaction on the issue of the courts,” he said.

He pointed out that the estate will pay more than €70,000 in the Local Property Tax and that even “10 per cent of this would assist in starting to address this issue”.

Mr Burke said local residents are “very engaged on how solutions can be brought to be play” on the issue such as turning the courts into allotments. However the Galway City Council needs to “listen and providing funding”, while there also needs to be “the political drive to get the solution actually completed
