Galway schools take a stand against homophobia

Galway secondary schools and youth organisations will join thousands of young people from across Ireland in taking a stand against homophobic bullying.

The Stand Up! Awareness Week against Homophobic & Transphobic Bullying runs from Monday March 10 to Friday 14.

According to research carried out by the Department of Education and Dublin City University, 79 per cent of teachers are aware of homophobic bullying in their schools.

shOUT! LGBT Youth will be running workshops in secondary schools across Galway city and county during Stand Up! where it will raise awareness about homophobia and transphobia, as well the important role that young people play in being allies for young people who identify as LGBT.
