Japanese and Irish poetry reading

AN EVENING of Japanese and Irish poetry, with Hisa Kagawa and Nicki Griffin, takes place in Charlie Byrne’s Bookshop tomorrow at 8pm.

Hisa Kagawa is one of Japan’s most established tanka poets. She won the 1988 Kadokawa Award and the 2007 Wakayama Bokusai Award. She has published many collections of tanka, including The Blue (2012 ).

Englishwoman Nicki Griffin has lived in east Clare since 1997. She was the 2010 Over The Edge New Poet of the Year and in 2012 was awarded a Literature Bursary by the Arts Council. Her debut collection, Unbelonging, was published by Salmon in 2013.
