Galwegians interested in volunteering for the Samaritans can attend two information meetings on the work of the organisation next week.
The Samaritans will hold the first meeting this Tuesday in the Menlo Park Hotel, Headford Road, at 8pm; and the second in the Galway Bay Hotel, Salthill, on Thursday February 27 at 8pm.
No experience is necessary to volunteer for the Samaritans as full training is provided. However it is essential that people attend one of the above meetings. Samaritans also welcomes support volunteers who might be interested in fundraising, outreach, and publicity.
The Samaritans is based in Nuns Island and operates a 24 hour/seven days a week service. At the moment there are approximately 120 volunteers.
