The Minister for Housing Jan O’Sullivan is to be presented with a “comprehensive report” on the housing situation in Galway, which can be used to “inform future policy” in the area.
Labour Galway West TD Derek Nolan is currently compiling the report and over the past few months has organised consultations with representatives from the construction and property management sector, the Department of Social Protection, and housing charities.
The meetings addressed the changes in the housing market, local authority building programmes, supply and demand of housing, homelessness, and the private rental market.
“Identifying viable solutions is only possible when you ask the right people for their advice and expertise,” he said. “I am currently compiling a final report which reflects the nature of these discussions and I am sure that it will be both informative and useful
