Snow White panto comes to Town! Oh No it doesn’t...! Oh Yes it does...!

THIS CHRISTMAS the Performing Arts School Galway are proud to present Snow White and the 7 Delinquents. Running from December 28 to January 4 in the Black Box Theatre, a magical treat awaits all who attend.

One of the most popular pantomimes of recent times, it tells the story of a beautiful princess who is saved from her evil stepmother by seven adorable delinquents.

With a script written by famous children’s writer Maeve Ingoldsby, and a well known cast including Gavin O’Fearraigh as the Prince (Celebrity Jigs and Reels, Ros na Run ), Fiachra O’Dubhghaill as the Dame (Dragonfly Theatre ), Hillary O’Shaughnessey as the Wicked Stepmother (Abbey Theatre ), Debra Wiseman as the Magic Mirror (Fair City ), and Ana Mahe as Snow White (PASG ), an unforgettable panto experience is in store for all families.

The chorus is made up of all remaining PASG performers who have been busily working away over the last couple of months to ensure that audiences are not disappointed.

As with last year, the panto is directed by Jessica Curtis and in discussing the show she pays tribute to the contribution of writer Maeve Ingoldsby.

“She’s wonderful panto scriptwriter,” Jessica tells me. “Maeve knows kids inside out and is also very skilful at working in jokes that appeal to adults without crossing any boundaries.

“She has a deep knowledge of the forms and traditions of panto - which is a huge help me for me as a director. Also, what’s been great for us this year is that Maeve is taking a break from writing the Gaiety panto to work exclusively with PASG because she really enjoys the involvement she has with the company.”

Since the school was set up 1991, PASG have delighted audiences with their annual musicals and in recent years ventured into pantomimes (Cinderella, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast ), with resounding success.

This year is no different as PASG present Snow White and the 7 Delinquents. As well as the input of Curtis and Ingoldsby, the show also includes choreography by Paula McGurrell and musical direction by Ronan Dooney for a production not to be missed.

“It’s a big production,” Curtis reveals. “There are 75 kids from the school onstage, ranging in age from four to 19, and eight principal performers. As a director it’s certainly a challenge working with such a large cast but it’s also great fun and we have a terrific crew who pull everything together. Everyone involved in the show is totally dedicated to creating a magical experience for the audience.”

The PASG Christmas panto invites all people, young and old, to get up off the couch this Christmas, and join them for a fun filled performance that guarantees laughs for all who attend.

The pantomime has two performances daily, with a matinée at 2.30pm and evening show at 7.30pm. Tickets start at €14 and can be purchased directly from the Town Hall (091 - 569777 ).
