Funds allocated to east side of city

Funds totalling €10,000 for the east side of the city has been allocated under the Local Improvement Scheme in the 2013 Galway City Council budget.

The LIS scheme is an initiative where councillors receive discretionary funds to carry out small projects in their local areas. Independent city councillor Terry O’Flaherty allocated funds towards seven projects.

New railings were installed at Scoil Catriona Renmore (€1,000 ); the grass margin on the school side on Walter Macken Road, Mervue, was removed (€2,000 ); new signage, road lining, and road repairs at Clareview Park, Ballybane (€1,000 ), work on which will start soon; and for the public lighting due to be installed in the playground at Coillte and Sruthan Mhuirlinne, Ballybane (€1,500 ).

Funds were also allocated towards the new ramps in Lurgan Park, Renmore (€2,500 ), and Ballyloughane Beach Road (€750 ), as well as towards the existing ramp close to the entrance to Monivea Park (€1,250 ).
