Student fashion show to raise funds for cancer charity

A group of secondary school students are appealing to clothes and accessory shops to take part in a fundraising fashion show they are organising in the city.

The transition year students from Coláiste na Coiribe are running the event - on January 28 at the Westwood Hotel at 8pm - to raise money for the local charity Cancer Care West.

Roisin O’Donoghue, a spokesperson for the students, says the show is being organised as part of their enterprise course. Tickets cost €15 for adults and €10 for students and children.

“We are looking for clothes shops to give us the clothes and fashion items for the show and we would love to have stores sponsor us. The management of Coláiste Na Coiribe are happy to reimburse any damages to the clothing that you provide.

“Our school hosted a fashion show two years ago and there were no problems with the clothes, they were handled with care. We are hoping for five to 10 outfits from each store.”

Shops interested in taking part should contact the students’ teacher Mairéad Ní Ghríofa or the transition year co-ordinator Kathy Ní Fhathartha at (091 ) 753977.
