JIM BROADBENT, best known for roles in Only Fools and Horses and Cloud Atlas, stars in Le Weekend, which is to be screened by the Galway Film Society.
British comedy film Le Weekend, the GFS’s Winter/Spring Season 2014 opening film, will be shown in the Town Hall Theatre this Sunday at 8pm.
Nick (Jim Broadbent ) and Meg (Lindsay Duncan ) play a middle-aged, middle-class couple who visit Paris for a long weekend in hopes of rekindling their relationship – or, perhaps, to bring it to an end. Diffident Nick and demanding Meg move from harmony to disharmony to resignation and back again, before taking it all up several notches after accepting a dinner invitation from Nick’s old friend Morgan (Jeff Goldblum ).
For his role in the film, Broadbent won an award for Best Actor at the San Sebastian Film Festival 2013.
