SHOW ME The Funny, the annual comedy event which searches for Irelands freshest, newest brightest comedy talent, returns next week.
Now in its fourth year, Show Me The Funny, starts this Monday (January 13 ) in The King’s Head and runs until the grand final on Monday February 24. The MC will be Gerry Mallon.
Monday’s event will see stand-up comedy from eight hopefuls in the first of six consecutive heats, with the top two on each night making it through to the final. The overall winner will win a slot at the Comedy Tent at Electric Picnic 2014. There will also be prizes for the runners up, including a slot at Forbidden Fruit 2014.
“The standard of these rookie comedians is frighteningly good and some of them would put so called professional acts to shame,” says Gerry Mallon. “It’s a sure fire way to beat the January blues.”
Special guest this Monday night is Fred Cooke (Republic of Telly ). Tickets are €5 and available on the door and include a free pint of Bulmers. Doors are 7.30pm and the show starts at 8.30pm.
