Craughwell win Junior Hurling Championship

The replay of the Galway Junior (A ) Hurling Championship Final was held last weekend at Duggan Park. It was another very close contest, however it was Craughwell who emerged victorious, with a one point win over a gallant Annaghdown side, on a score-line of 2-7 to 1-9.

Craughwell were managed to success by Stephen Glennon, and it was the club's third victory in the grade. The club last won this title in 1969.

In a very interesting contest, a goal by Michael Farrell got the winners off to a good start, but Annaghdown roared back into the contest. Niall O’Keefe goaled for Annaghdown and Craughwell only led by 2-3 to 1-5 at the small whistle.

There was little between the sides all through the second half, and with time almost up, Brian Callanan landed the winning point.

Craughwell's Michael Farrell was selected as man of the match and after the game, hurling board chairman Joe Byrne presented the trophy to Craughwell captain Colin Rooney.
