THE WINTER solstice is this Saturday and to mark the shortest day of the year Campbell’s Tavern, Cloughanover, hosts a gig featuring Stephen James, The Deans, and The Johnny Ringo Band.
Sligo singer-songwriter Stephen James grew up surrounded by music and initially began as an electro/dance DJ, until he returned to his folk and trad roots and began writing songs. He is working on his debut album with Gavin Glass.
Roots rock trio The Deans - Gavin Dean (vocals, guitar ), Gari Keon (drums ), and Ronan Lally (bass ) - won the Rock Category in the US based song competition Unsigned Only 2013, chosen by a judging panel boasting Chrissie Hynde, Iggy Pop, and Cyndi Lauper. The band also play Kelly’s, Bridge Street, Galway city, tomorrow.
Johnny ‘Ringo’ McDonagh is a bodhrán innovator and a founding member of De Danann and Arcady.
