In-Tuition Galway has launched an interactive and social way for the customers of local Galway businesses to showcase their support for local retailers and businesses online this Christmas.
Buy Galway is an online initiative geared towards the promotion of, and gaining support for, the best of local business in Galway. The campaign is purely digital and will aid in creating an online community for individuals to demonstrate how they are keeping it local this year, as well as sharing the best of Galway businesses and services with their connections.
There has been a website and multiple social media pages set-up for the initiative, so anyone tweeting, posting a status or even a picture about a purchase, they have made with the #buygalway tag will be joining a community of people online all sharing the best of Galway businesses and services with their connections through social media.
Ann Halloran, director of In-Tuition says: “Anyone can take part in this campaign and the more the merrier. Any retailer or producer who has their premises or online business based in Galway is encouraged to take this on, because the more retailers that get involved the more powerful the message becomes. Every business which has been approached about the idea so far is welcoming it. The initiative has been designed to be as cost effective for the participants as possible. It also allows customers’ feel good factor to be extended as they support their local businesses over the Christmas season and beyond.”
Speaking at the launch of Buy Galway, manager of Cantec Galway, Jessica Conneely said: “I think #buygalway is a fantastic initiative and I hope customers and businesses alike support it. It’s not only important to promote this in the run up to Christmas but also year round. There are a lot of fantastic businesses in Galway - let’s keep it local.”
