Galway writer wins Journalist of the Year

Galway journalist and Hotpress writer Olaf Tyaransen won Journalist of the Year at the recent 2013 Irish Magazine Awards which were held in Dublin.

The statement from the judging panel read: “This journalist has an ability to draw the reader in from the first sentence, and this was particularly evident in the two articles submitted - interviews with Colum McCann and Theo Dorgan. His articles are more than just an interview and the reader gets a real sense of the person's character. Olaf has been shortlisted on several occasions for this award. He is a worthy winner of the gong in 2013.”
