GALWAY THEATRE company ThereisBear! is gearing up for what promises to be an ambitious year with a tour of Ireland and four different productions in the first three months of 2014.
The company, founded in 2012 by a group of NUI Galway students, launched its spring theatre season programme on Monday and its new website, www.thereisbeartheatre.ie The New Year will see ThereisBear! perform Christina Reid’s Joyriders in the Nuns Island Theatre from January 5 to 8.
Joyriders is a humorous, yet moving, story about a group of teenagers involved in a youth training programme in West Belfast in 1986 and how they build and nurture relationships with one another.
ThereisBear! will also stage Terminus by Mark O’Rowe (Howie The Rookie, Intermission, Perrier’s Bounty ) in the Town Hall Theatre studio from February 26 to March 1.
In March there will be productions of Shakespeare’s Othello and The Merchant of Venice, which will be performed in Galway, Ballinasloe, and Inishbofin. Auditions are scheduled for this month. See www.thereisbeartheatre.ie/auditions
