Three hundred Unite trade union members at Thermo King will sport white ribbons today to highlight violence against women and the need for men to take the lead in eliminating it.
The overwhelmingly male workforce will take part in a photocall at 3pm on Thursday 28 November in Thermo King on Monivea Road in the Mervue Industrial Estate.
The action takes place as part of the international ‘16 Days of Activism against Gender Violence’ which started on Monday and will conclude on International Human Rights Day on December 10.
“Solidarity is fundamental to trade unionism,” said Unite convenor at Thermo King, Coleman Coneely, “not just with our fellow workers, but with all those whose human rights are being attacked, whether at home in Ireland or around the world. Violence against women – in the workplace, on the streets or in the home – is a crucial human rights issue.”
