THE ARCADIA String Quartet, winners of the 2012 Wigmore Hall International String Quartet Competition, are coming to Galway.
The quartet will play a Music for Galway concert in the Aula Maxima, NUIG, on Wednesday November 27 at 8pm, as part of their current Irish tour. The programme will be Haydn’s Largo Quartet Op 75 No 5 in D Major; Janácek’s String Quartet No 1 Kreutzer Sonata, inspired by Tolstoy’s novella of the same name; and Beethoven’s String Quartet Op 18 No 6, one of the master’s earliest string quartets.
From Romania, Arcadia have won numerous awards in their near decade long career. As well as the Wigmore, they have won the Almere International Chamber Music Competition 2011 and the International Chamber Music Competition Hamburg 2009.
