Lucinda Williams’ guitarist/producer to play Kelly’s

HE HAS produced albums by Lucinda Williams and Tom Russell, played guitar for Emmylou Harris and Steve Earle, and he is a solo singer-songwriter.

Gurf Morlix, the Austin based producer, multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, and songwriter is coming to Galway to play Kelly’s, Bridge Street, on Wednesday November 27.

For 11 years he worked with Lucinda Williams, as her guitarist, band leader, backing vocalist, and producer of her albums, Lucinda Williams and Sweet Old World. He has also worked with Talking Head’s David Byrne, Guy Clarke, John Prine, and Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant.

Morlix has also received awards for his work, becoming a member of the Austin Music Awards Hall of Fame in 2004, the Buffalo Music Hall of Fame in 2005, and winner of the Americana Music Association Instrumentalist of the Year 2009.

Morlix has released nine solo albums, the most recent being this year’s Gurf Morlix Finds The Present Tense.
