The Christmas park and ride service returns on Saturday November 30 at 7am and the Galway City Council is aiming to surpass the number of 23,000 passengers who used the service last year.
The service will operate from Ballybrit Racecourse shuttling passengers to the Coach Station terminus in Eyre Square every 15 minutes. The price per car regardless of number of passengers will be €3 - meaning the total cost for all day parking (up to 9.30pm weekdays ) and return bus travel to the city centre for, say, a family of six ,will be just €3.
The council believes the service is ideal for people travelling to Galway city along the M6, N6, N17, N18, and the Monivea Road. Members of the public are advised to follow the directional signage in place along these routes to Galway Racecourse, where staff will be on hand to guide passengers towards the high frequency shuttle buses.
As well as the park and ride service, City Hall, in conjunction with An Taisce Green Schools, is also calling on the public to travel to work and education by bus, bike, park and stride, carpool or on foot where feasible.
