Annie day soon — Nine Arch get ready for Town Hall run

All the children in Nine Arch Musical society’s tenth production Annie are up to their eyes with final rehearsals in singing, dancing, and acting. With a cast of over fifty, the show will go on stage in the Town Hall Theatre from November 20-23 with a matinee on Sat 23.

The role of Annie is taken by Corrandulla’s Sarah Maguire, an excellent new young talent, Sarah, along with all her “orphan” friends, are all really working hard, and enjoying the rehearsals. Their singing acting and dancing will certainly create a show to remember.

The society is delighted to have two new adult leads for this show — the evil Miss Hannigan is played by Amanda Stuart Heaney and kind multi-millionaire Oliver Warbucks is played by Louis Brennan . The two main leads head up a fabulous adult chorus of over twenty five. Amanda, having come to Galway from New York City brings an authenticity and substantial acting talent to this roguish part. Louis, who hails from Tuam, brings all of his singing and acting talents to the part of the loving and caring Oliver Warbucks, which Louis portrays with a great aplomb.

Musical Director Shane Farrell is once again giving the crew the advantage of his musical talent and putting all the children and adults through their musical paces. This year Peter Kennedy is bringing his wealth of experience and is putting all the cast through their choreography and acting paces.

Chairperson Annette Cavanagh said final rehearsals are coming along really well, and the whole show is fusing brilliantly. “We are all very grateful to both Alan Mongey in Colaiste Bhaile Chlair and Paul and Nora Gill from the Claregalway Hotel for giving us the use of the college and the hotel for rehearsal venues.

“This has been a great help to us particularly the superb purpose-built hall with music room facility in the new Claregalway College,” she said, adding that “everybody is putting in a huge effort and everything seems to be falling into place, with no major disasters, so far.”
