Grace’s Londis Plus store has been a long-standing fixture at the centre of Loughrea’s retail industry on Dunkellin Street, providinig an excellent and comprehensive service to the local community for many years.
The store has seen many changes since its establishment 100 years ago, however one thing that has not changed is the dedicated involvement of the Grace family throughout its long lifespan.
Delia Keane opened the original store in 1913, just across the road from its current premises, and was helped by her son Paddy Grace with the day to day operations selling groceries, hardware, and materials for anglers fishing on the nearby lake. It was Paddy Grace’s son Joe who decided to move the family business across the street in 1975.
From there, Grace’s supermarket has grown and its success has prompted several expansions in terms of the size of the store and the quality and variety of its products.
Joe Grace sadly passed away in 2002 and the store has since been managed by his wife Teresa Grace with the help of their four children Laura, Michelle, Lisa, and Robert.
In its current guise, Grace’s Londis has seen an extension of the store into a 10,000 square feet supermarket in recent years as well as a substantial refurbishment and modernisation of the front and inside of the building.
The supermarket now employs 30 staff members who are all focused on maintaining top quality customer care and providing the best promotions, special offers, and savings throughout the store. Among its services, the supermarket features a deli counter; a bakery with fresh bread, muffins, and scones available each day; a meat counter with an excellent variety of locally-sourced beef, chicken, lamb, and pork; an off licence which provides great offers and savings on wine, beer, and spirits.
