Lucy Spraggan to play Róisín Dubh

LUCY SPRAGGAN, the English singer-songwriter, whose catchy folk-pop songs have seen her new album Join The Club go Top 10 in Britain, is coming to Galway.

Lucy will play Strange Brew at the Róisín Dubh on Thursday November 14 at 8pm where she will perform songs from Join The Club as well as from her debut Top Room At The Zoo.

The Sheffield woman had a varied career before music, having trained as a fire fighter, and working as a plumber’s apprentice, a cave tour guide, a magician, and in demolition. In 2011 she independently released her debut album and by the time of the release of the single ‘Tea and Toast’, she had auditioned for the 2012 series of The X-Factor. She scored a number of hit singles during her run on the show before pulling out due to illness.

Lucy signed to Columbia Records in March and Join the Club was released in October. “I wanted to put my own take on events that happen to everyone by telling these stories,” Lucy said of the album. “I have been writing this album for as long and I can remember and I hope people will be able to relate.”

Tickets are available at www.roisindubh.net, the Ticket Desk at OMG, Shop Street (formerly Zhivago ), and The Róisín Dubh.
