Four Galway tyre dealers are among the first in Ireland to receive new licences to improve service and safety in the tyre trade.
Thom Fox, Ballinasloe Tyres; John Donnellan of Donnellan Auto Services, Ornamore; Pat Treacy of Treacy Tyres Portumna; and Brendan Byrne, Byrnes Tyres, Oranmore are the four dealers who have received the licences, compelling them to comply with strict criteria which includes the independent accreditation of staff skills. Licencees must declare that they do not sell second hand, part worn tyres.
The Irish Tyre Industry Association has set up a comprehensive self-regulation scheme to bring improved standards in the tyre trade.
The ITIA says motorists now have a clear visible sign to help choose a tyre retailers who places safety at the forefront of their service. Using a licensed outlet will mean motorists have peace of mind knowing they are choosing a tyre expert who has experienced, skilled staff and is committed to working to industry best practice.
