HP Galway supports Galway Simon

During October 2013 HP Galway run their Social Innovation Week, when the company sponsors their employees to complete volunteering work in the local community. This year Galway Simon Community was the charity chosen by HP.

Simon Walsh, Director of ESIT, Enterprise Analytics in HP Galway said that the Galway Simon Community was selected as their charity of choice due to the excellent and tireless work they do on behalf of those less fortunate in our society.

“The Simon Community is a great cause. They help to tackle an area of homelessness in our society, if it were not for charities like Galway Simon Community it would mean destitution for a good number of people. HP Galway is proud to be able to support this very worthwhile charity,” he said.

As part of this volunteering week employees at HP undertook some painting and renovation work for Galway Simon in addition to carrying out some training of staff and volunteers.

“Volunteering programmes like the HP Social Innovation Week make a huge difference to Galway Simon Community as it enables us to undertake work and training programmes that we would otherwise not be able to afford”, according to Bill Griffin, CEO. “We are extremely grateful to everyone who gave their time and their expertise during this week”.

Galway Simon Community provides a range of services for men and women who are homeless or at risk of homeless in the West of Ireland. If you would like to help Galway Simon by either volunteering or fundraising, please contact them at 091 381828 or email [email protected]
