Camogie stars to be honoured at Galway People of the Year Awards

The Galway People of the Year Special Achievement Award which will be presented at the annual awards black tie gala in the Galway Bay Hotel on Friday next November 1 goes to the Galway senior and intermediate camogie teams and management.

The award will be accepted by team captains Lorraine Ryan and Sinead Keane on behalf of the 55 girls on both panels, and by the manager of both teams Tony Ward on behalf of the management team. This was a special year for Galway camogie — players, management, officers, camogie board, and supporters. For many of those players who have been great servants of Galway camogie over many years it was the fulfilment of their childhood sporting ambition and for Tony Ward who managed both teams and the rest of his management team who masterminded this remarkable double, it was a very special achievement
