The Jes Past Pupils' Union will hold a get-together next month to launch its new website and celebrate the common bonds shared by Jes students down through the years.
The event will take place in the Harbour Hotel on Saturday November 23, and the following day will see the annual celebration of Mass for deceased past pupils and members of the Jesuit community at the Jesuit Church on Sea Road.
Saturday's get-together will start at 8.30pm and includes a three course buffet dinner followed by live entertainment and a late bar. The new Jes PPU website will also be launched on the night.
This is the second in a series of social events organised by the union, following a very successful night out for past pupils out at the Imelda May concert during the Galway Arts Festival.
The Jes Past Pupils' Union works to help former students of both Scoil Iognáid and Coláiste Iognáid to reconnect and celebrate their shared educational heritage. The union's website will also feature a password-protected database which will allow past pupils to network together for career and social opportunities. Former students will have the opportunity to sign up to the new website at next month's launch.
The Mass, at 11am on Sunday November 24, is in memory of deceased Jes pupils, past pupils, staff and clergy. The Mass will be celebrated by former Jes principal Fr Paddy Greene SJ and will feature the Scoil Iognáid choir. Former students are being sought for readings and prayers of the faithful at the Mass; those interested in reading can contact the union at [email protected]
Tickets for the social night on November 23 cost €30 and are available from Jes PPU committee members Una Sinnott (087 2798525 ), Liam Ferrie (086 3067611 ), or MacDara Hosty (086 2512762 ). For further details see facebook.com/jescolaisteiognaid ppu or tweet @jesheads
